# Dart and Flutter MCP server

> Analyze, fix, format and test Dart and Flutter code, search pub.dev and inspect running apps from your AI assistant.

- Listing: https://mcp.tc/i/dart-flutter
- Connect: this is a local (stdio) server; install it on your machine (see Install). The listing link is a page, not an MCP endpoint.
- Type: local (stdio)
- Auth: no API key needed
- Category: [Developer Tools](https://mcp.tc/c/developer-tools)
- Vendor: Dart & Flutter (Google)
- Verified: yes, mcp.tc checked that this is the official server (https://mcp.tc/verify). It says who runs the server, not that it is safe.

## About

The Dart and Flutter MCP server exposes Dart and Flutter development tool actions to AI assistants. It can analyze projects for errors, apply dart fix, format code, run tests, look up symbol documentation, search pub.dev and create new projects. It can also connect to running Dart and Flutter apps through the Dart Tooling Daemon to inspect them.

It runs locally over stdio with the command dart mcp-server and is built into the Dart SDK 3.9 and later, so no separate package is needed. No sign-in or API key is required. The README marks the package as experimental and likely to change quickly. Clients should support Tools and Resources, and ideally Roots.

## What it can do

- Analyze files or whole projects for errors
- Apply dart fix and run dart format on project roots
- Create new Dart or Flutter projects
- Search pub.dev and look up symbol documentation
- Run tests for a project
- Connect to running Dart and Flutter apps via the Dart Tooling Daemon

## Example prompts

- "Analyze my project and list all errors."
- "Run dart fix on this package and format the code."
- "Connect to my running Flutter web app."
- "Search pub.dev for a package to handle HTTP caching."

## Install

### Claude Code

1. Run this in a terminal, in your project folder:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport stdio dart-flutter -- dart mcp-server
```

2. Start Claude Code and type `/mcp`. **dart-flutter** should show as connected.

Add `--scope user` to make it available in every project.

### Claude Desktop

1. Open **Settings → Developer → Edit Config**. It opens `claude_desktop_config.json`. Add:

`claude_desktop_config.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "dart-flutter": {
      "command": "dart",
      "args": [
        "mcp-server"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

2. Save the file and restart Claude Desktop.

The file lives in `~/Library/Application Support/Claude/` on macOS and `%APPDATA%\Claude\` on Windows.

### Cursor

[Add to Cursor](<https://cursor.com/install-mcp?name=dart-flutter&config=eyJjb21tYW5kIjoiZGFydCIsImFyZ3MiOlsibWNwLXNlcnZlciJdfQ%3D%3D>) (opens Cursor)

Or add it by hand to `~/.cursor/mcp.json` (all projects) or `.cursor/mcp.json` (this project):

`mcp.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "dart-flutter": {
      "command": "dart",
      "args": [
        "mcp-server"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

### VS Code

[Install in VS Code](<https://vscode.dev/redirect/mcp/install?name=dart-flutter&config=%7B%22type%22%3A%22stdio%22%2C%22command%22%3A%22dart%22%2C%22args%22%3A%5B%22mcp-server%22%5D%7D>) (opens VS Code)

Or from a terminal:

```bash
code --add-mcp '{"name":"dart-flutter","type":"stdio","command":"dart","args":["mcp-server"]}'
```

Or commit it to the repo in `.vscode/mcp.json`:

`.vscode/mcp.json`:

```json
{
  "servers": {
    "dart-flutter": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "dart",
      "args": [
        "mcp-server"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

### Devin Desktop

1. Add it to `~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json` (macOS and Linux) or `%APPDATA%\devin\mcp_config.json` (Windows):

`mcp_config.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "dart-flutter": {
      "command": "dart",
      "args": [
        "mcp-server"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

2. Refresh the MCP server list in Cascade.

Devin Desktop is the new name for Windsurf.

### Codex

```bash
codex mcp add dart-flutter -- dart mcp-server
```

Or edit `~/.codex/config.toml` directly:

`config.toml`:

```toml
[mcp_servers.dart-flutter]
command = "dart"
args = ["mcp-server"]
```

### Gemini CLI

```bash
gemini mcp add dart-flutter dart mcp-server
```

This adds it to the current project. Add `-s user` to use it everywhere.

### Any client

Most clients that start local servers accept this shape:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "dart-flutter": {
      "command": "dart",
      "args": [
        "mcp-server"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

Zed puts servers under `context_servers` in its settings, with the same `command`, `args` and `env` fields.
