- Connect: this is a local (stdio) server; install it on your machine (see Install). The listing link is a page, not an MCP endpoint.
- Type: local (stdio)
- Auth: API key
- Category: [Marketing & SEO](https://mcp.tc/c/marketing-seo)
- Vendor: DigestSEO (AKzar1el)
- Homepage: <https://digestseo.com/geo-mcp/>
- Repository: <https://github.com/AKzar1el/mcp-geo>
- Package: npm `@digestseo/mcp-geo`

## About

Tracks brand visibility in AI search. It runs buyer-intent prompts against ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Grok, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, then records which engines cite your brand versus competitors. You can view citation evidence, score history, share of voice and content gap recommendations.

Runs locally over stdio through the npm package @digestseo/mcp-geo and needs Node.js 22.13 or newer. Data is kept in a local SQLite database. You supply API keys for the engines you want to scan; engines without a key are skipped. The code is MIT-licensed, and a paid audit is offered separately.

## What it can do

- Track brands with domains, competitors, aliases and refresh cadence
- Generate or set buyer-intent prompt sets for a brand
- Scan seven AI search surfaces for brand citations
- View latest AI visibility data per engine
- Review visibility score history over time
- Compare share of voice against competitors
- Read citation events with response excerpts and links
- Get prioritized content gap recommendations

## Tools (12)

- `track_brand`: Start tracking a brand locally with domain, competitors, prompt set and refresh cadence.
- `update_brand`: Update a tracked brand's domain, name, category, competitors, aliases, exclusions or cadence.
- `list_brands`: List locally tracked brands with their settings and active prompt counts.
- `list_prompts`: List the active buyer-intent prompts for one tracked brand.
- `set_prompts`: Replace a brand's active prompt set with your own questions, keeping run history.
- `generate_prompts`: Regenerate buyer-intent prompts with Claude Haiku when ANTHROPIC\_API\_KEY is set.
- `check_visibility`: Get stored AI visibility data: which engines cite the brand, for which prompts, vs competitors.
- `get_visibility_history`: Get the per-engine time series of a brand's AI visibility score.
- `compare_competitors`: Compare share of voice with competitors and show prompts won and lost.
- `get_citations`: Get citation events with prompt, response excerpt, link status and matched URL.
- `get_content_gaps`: Get prioritized content topics and formats that would close visibility gaps.
- `refresh_brand`: Run a fresh scan of a brand's prompts across all configured engines.

## Example prompts

- "Start tracking my brand example.com with competitors acme.com and globex.com"
- "How visible is my brand on AI assistants right now?"
- "Compare me to my competitors in AI search"
- "What content should I write to get cited more by AI?"

## Install

### Claude Code

1. Run this in a terminal, in your project folder:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport stdio geo-tracker-by-digestseo --env "OPENAI_API_KEY=<YOUR_OPENAI_API_KEY>" --env "ANTHROPIC_API_KEY=<YOUR_ANTHROPIC_API_KEY>" --env "GEMINI_API_KEY=<YOUR_GEMINI_API_KEY>" --env "PERPLEXITY_API_KEY=<YOUR_PERPLEXITY_API_KEY>" --env "XAI_API_KEY=<YOUR_XAI_API_KEY>" --env "SERPAPI_API_KEY=<YOUR_SERPAPI_API_KEY>" -- npx -y @digestseo/mcp-geo
```

2. Start Claude Code and type `/mcp`. **geo-tracker-by-digestseo** should show as connected.

Add `--scope user` to make it available in every project. Replace the placeholders with your own values.

### Claude Desktop

1. Open **Settings → Developer → Edit Config**. It opens `claude_desktop_config.json`. Add:

`claude_desktop_config.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "geo-tracker-by-digestseo": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@digestseo/mcp-geo"
      ],
      "env": {
        "OPENAI_API_KEY": "<YOUR_OPENAI_API_KEY>",
        "ANTHROPIC_API_KEY": "<YOUR_ANTHROPIC_API_KEY>",
        "GEMINI_API_KEY": "<YOUR_GEMINI_API_KEY>",
        "PERPLEXITY_API_KEY": "<YOUR_PERPLEXITY_API_KEY>",
        "XAI_API_KEY": "<YOUR_XAI_API_KEY>",
        "SERPAPI_API_KEY": "<YOUR_SERPAPI_API_KEY>"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

2. Save the file and restart Claude Desktop. Replace the placeholders with your own values.

Needs Node.js on your computer. The file lives in `~/Library/Application Support/Claude/` on macOS and `%APPDATA%\Claude\` on Windows.

### Cursor

[Add to Cursor](<https://cursor.com/install-mcp?name=geo-tracker-by-digestseo&config=eyJjb21tYW5kIjoibnB4IiwiYXJncyI6WyIteSIsIkBkaWdlc3RzZW8vbWNwLWdlbyJdLCJlbnYiOnsiT1BFTkFJX0FQSV9LRVkiOiI8WU9VUl9PUEVOQUlfQVBJX0tFWT4iLCJBTlRIUk9QSUNfQVBJX0tFWSI6IjxZT1VSX0FOVEhST1BJQ19BUElfS0VZPiIsIkdFTUlOSV9BUElfS0VZIjoiPFlPVVJfR0VNSU5JX0FQSV9LRVk%2BIiwiUEVSUExFWElUWV9BUElfS0VZIjoiPFlPVVJfUEVSUExFWElUWV9BUElfS0VZPiIsIlhBSV9BUElfS0VZIjoiPFlPVVJfWEFJX0FQSV9LRVk%2BIiwiU0VSUEFQSV9BUElfS0VZIjoiPFlPVVJfU0VSUEFQSV9BUElfS0VZPiJ9fQ%3D%3D>) (opens Cursor)

Or add it by hand to `~/.cursor/mcp.json` (all projects) or `.cursor/mcp.json` (this project):

`mcp.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "geo-tracker-by-digestseo": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@digestseo/mcp-geo"
      ],
      "env": {
        "OPENAI_API_KEY": "<YOUR_OPENAI_API_KEY>",
        "ANTHROPIC_API_KEY": "<YOUR_ANTHROPIC_API_KEY>",
        "GEMINI_API_KEY": "<YOUR_GEMINI_API_KEY>",
        "PERPLEXITY_API_KEY": "<YOUR_PERPLEXITY_API_KEY>",
        "XAI_API_KEY": "<YOUR_XAI_API_KEY>",
        "SERPAPI_API_KEY": "<YOUR_SERPAPI_API_KEY>"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

Needs Node.js on your computer. Replace the placeholders with your own values.

### VS Code

Add it to `.vscode/mcp.json`. VS Code asks for the secret the first time and stores it securely:

`.vscode/mcp.json`:

```json
{
  "servers": {
    "geo-tracker-by-digestseo": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@digestseo/mcp-geo"
      ],
      "env": {
        "OPENAI_API_KEY": "${input:openai-api-key}",
        "ANTHROPIC_API_KEY": "${input:anthropic-api-key}",
        "GEMINI_API_KEY": "${input:gemini-api-key}",
        "PERPLEXITY_API_KEY": "${input:perplexity-api-key}",
        "XAI_API_KEY": "${input:xai-api-key}",
        "SERPAPI_API_KEY": "${input:serpapi-api-key}"
      }
    }
  },
  "inputs": [
    {
      "type": "promptString",
      "id": "openai-api-key",
      "description": "OPENAI_API_KEY",
      "password": true
    },
    {
      "type": "promptString",
      "id": "anthropic-api-key",
      "description": "ANTHROPIC_API_KEY",
      "password": true
    },
    {
      "type": "promptString",
      "id": "gemini-api-key",
      "description": "GEMINI_API_KEY",
      "password": true
    },
    {
      "type": "promptString",
      "id": "perplexity-api-key",
      "description": "PERPLEXITY_API_KEY",
      "password": true
    },
    {
      "type": "promptString",
      "id": "xai-api-key",
      "description": "XAI_API_KEY",
      "password": true
    },
    {
      "type": "promptString",
      "id": "serpapi-api-key",
      "description": "SERPAPI_API_KEY",
      "password": true
    }
  ]
}
```

Needs Node.js on your computer.

### Devin Desktop

1. Add it to `~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json` (macOS and Linux) or `%APPDATA%\devin\mcp_config.json` (Windows):

`mcp_config.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "geo-tracker-by-digestseo": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@digestseo/mcp-geo"
      ],
      "env": {
        "OPENAI_API_KEY": "<YOUR_OPENAI_API_KEY>",
        "ANTHROPIC_API_KEY": "<YOUR_ANTHROPIC_API_KEY>",
        "GEMINI_API_KEY": "<YOUR_GEMINI_API_KEY>",
        "PERPLEXITY_API_KEY": "<YOUR_PERPLEXITY_API_KEY>",
        "XAI_API_KEY": "<YOUR_XAI_API_KEY>",
        "SERPAPI_API_KEY": "<YOUR_SERPAPI_API_KEY>"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

2. Refresh the MCP server list in Cascade. Replace the placeholders with your own values.

Devin Desktop is the new name for Windsurf.

### Codex

```bash
codex mcp add geo-tracker-by-digestseo --env "OPENAI_API_KEY=<YOUR_OPENAI_API_KEY>" --env "ANTHROPIC_API_KEY=<YOUR_ANTHROPIC_API_KEY>" --env "GEMINI_API_KEY=<YOUR_GEMINI_API_KEY>" --env "PERPLEXITY_API_KEY=<YOUR_PERPLEXITY_API_KEY>" --env "XAI_API_KEY=<YOUR_XAI_API_KEY>" --env "SERPAPI_API_KEY=<YOUR_SERPAPI_API_KEY>" -- npx -y @digestseo/mcp-geo
```

Or edit `~/.codex/config.toml` directly:

`config.toml`:

```toml
[mcp_servers.geo-tracker-by-digestseo]
command = "npx"
args = ["-y", "@digestseo/mcp-geo"]
env = { OPENAI_API_KEY = "<YOUR_OPENAI_API_KEY>", ANTHROPIC_API_KEY = "<YOUR_ANTHROPIC_API_KEY>", GEMINI_API_KEY = "<YOUR_GEMINI_API_KEY>", PERPLEXITY_API_KEY = "<YOUR_PERPLEXITY_API_KEY>", XAI_API_KEY = "<YOUR_XAI_API_KEY>", SERPAPI_API_KEY = "<YOUR_SERPAPI_API_KEY>" }
```

Needs Node.js on your computer. Replace the placeholders with your own values.

### Gemini CLI

```bash
gemini mcp add -e "OPENAI_API_KEY=<YOUR_OPENAI_API_KEY>" -e "ANTHROPIC_API_KEY=<YOUR_ANTHROPIC_API_KEY>" -e "GEMINI_API_KEY=<YOUR_GEMINI_API_KEY>" -e "PERPLEXITY_API_KEY=<YOUR_PERPLEXITY_API_KEY>" -e "XAI_API_KEY=<YOUR_XAI_API_KEY>" -e "SERPAPI_API_KEY=<YOUR_SERPAPI_API_KEY>" geo-tracker-by-digestseo npx -- -y @digestseo/mcp-geo
```

This adds it to the current project. Add `-s user` to use it everywhere.

### Any client

Most clients that start local servers accept this shape:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "geo-tracker-by-digestseo": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@digestseo/mcp-geo"
      ],
      "env": {
        "OPENAI_API_KEY": "<YOUR_OPENAI_API_KEY>",
        "ANTHROPIC_API_KEY": "<YOUR_ANTHROPIC_API_KEY>",
        "GEMINI_API_KEY": "<YOUR_GEMINI_API_KEY>",
        "PERPLEXITY_API_KEY": "<YOUR_PERPLEXITY_API_KEY>",
        "XAI_API_KEY": "<YOUR_XAI_API_KEY>",
        "SERPAPI_API_KEY": "<YOUR_SERPAPI_API_KEY>"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

Zed puts servers under `context_servers` in its settings, with the same `command`, `args` and `env` fields.

Needs Node.js on your computer. Replace the placeholders with your own values.
