## About

OptionsAhoy runs deterministic equity compensation tax calculations. Tools cover multi-year ISO exercise schedules under AMT, NSO and RSU sell-versus-hold analysis, QSBS Section 1202 qualification, single-stock concentration risk, protective put, collar and put spread pricing, cash-goal sell plans, and RSU lot ordering. Tax logic covers federal rules plus all 50 states and DC, using 2026 brackets.

It runs as a hosted streamable HTTP endpoint at https://optionsahoy.com/mcp with no sign-in or API key. A local package is also available through npx (optionsahoy-mcp). The server instructs the assistant to ask the user for any missing input rather than guess values.

## What it can do

- Plan multi-year ISO exercise schedules that account for AMT
- Compare sell-at-exercise and hold for NSOs
- Compare sell-at-vest and hold for RSUs, including withholding gap
- Check QSBS Section 1202 qualification
- Measure single-stock concentration and compare sell, hold and hedge
- Price protective puts, collars and put spreads
- Build sell plans to reach a cash goal by a deadline
- Choose which RSU lots to sell for the lowest tax

## Tools (8)

- `amt_iso_optimize`: Find the multi-year ISO exercise schedule that maximizes after-tax value, modeling AMT and credit… (read-only)
- `nso_calculate`: Compute after-tax NSO payout with federal, state and FICA, comparing sell at exercise versus hold. (read-only)
- `rsu_sell_vs_hold`: Compare selling RSUs at vest versus holding for long-term gains, including withholding shortfall. (read-only)
- `concentration_analyze`: Quantify single-stock drawdown risk and compare after-tax sell-down, hold and hedge strategies. (read-only)
- `protective_put_price`: Price a protective put, zero-cost collar or put spread on a single-stock position. (read-only)
- `qsbs_check`: Check Section 1202 QSBS qualification and estimate the federal exclusion. (read-only)
- `equity_funding_plan`: Plan share sales to reach a target after-tax cash amount by a deadline, returning four plans. (read-only)
- `rsu_lot_optimize`: Choose which vested RSU lots and sale dates divest a fraction of a position at the lowest tax. (read-only)

## Example prompts

- "How should I exercise 10,000 ISOs over the next three years to limit AMT?"
- "Should I sell my RSUs at vest or hold them for long-term gains?"
- "Does my startup stock qualify for QSBS before I sell?"
- "What would a zero-cost collar on my $500,000 stock position cost?"

## Install

### Claude Code

1. Run this in a terminal, in your project folder:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http optionsahoy https://optionsahoy.com/mcp
```

2. Start Claude Code and type `/mcp`. **optionsahoy** should show as connected.

Add `--scope user` to make it available in every project, not just this one.

### Claude Desktop

1. Open **Settings → Connectors** and click **Add custom connector**.

2. Name it **OptionsAhoy** and paste this URL:

```url
https://optionsahoy.com/mcp
```

3. Click **Add**. Its tools appear in the chat’s tools menu.

Claude Desktop’s JSON config file only starts local servers. Remote servers go through Connectors, and connectors you add on claude.ai show up here too.

### claude.ai

1. Open the connector form on claude.ai. This button fills in the name and URL for you:

[Add to claude.ai](<https://claude.ai/customize/connectors?modal=add-custom-connector&connectorName=OptionsAhoy&connectorUrl=https%3A%2F%2Foptionsahoy.com%2Fmcp>) (opens connector settings)

2. Check that the URL reads `https://optionsahoy.com/mcp` and click **Add**.

3. Turn it on in a chat from the tools menu.

Free plans allow one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans an owner adds it under **Organization settings → Connectors**.

### ChatGPT

1. On chatgpt.com, open **Settings → Security and login** and turn on **Developer mode**.

2. Go to `chatgpt.com/plugins` and click **+** to create an app for a remote MCP server.

3. Paste `https://optionsahoy.com/mcp` as the server URL and choose **No authentication**.

Developer mode is available on the web for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education accounts.

### Cursor

[Add to Cursor](<https://cursor.com/install-mcp?name=optionsahoy&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL29wdGlvbnNhaG95LmNvbS9tY3AifQ%3D%3D>) (opens Cursor)

Or add it by hand to `~/.cursor/mcp.json` (all projects) or `.cursor/mcp.json` (this project):

`mcp.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "optionsahoy": {
      "url": "https://optionsahoy.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

### VS Code

[Install in VS Code](<https://vscode.dev/redirect/mcp/install?name=optionsahoy&config=%7B%22type%22%3A%22http%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Foptionsahoy.com%2Fmcp%22%7D>) (opens VS Code)

Or from a terminal:

```bash
code --add-mcp '{"name":"optionsahoy","type":"http","url":"https://optionsahoy.com/mcp"}'
```

Or commit it to the repo in `.vscode/mcp.json`:

`.vscode/mcp.json`:

```json
{
  "servers": {
    "optionsahoy": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://optionsahoy.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

### Devin Desktop

1. Add it to `~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json` (macOS and Linux) or `%APPDATA%\devin\mcp_config.json` (Windows):

`mcp_config.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "optionsahoy": {
      "serverUrl": "https://optionsahoy.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

2. Refresh the MCP server list in Cascade.

Devin Desktop is the new name for Windsurf. It reads `serverUrl` (or `url`) for remote servers.

### Codex

```bash
codex mcp add optionsahoy --url https://optionsahoy.com/mcp
```

Or edit `~/.codex/config.toml` directly:

`config.toml`:

```toml
[mcp_servers.optionsahoy]
url = "https://optionsahoy.com/mcp"
```

### Gemini CLI

```bash
gemini mcp add --transport http optionsahoy https://optionsahoy.com/mcp
```

This adds it to the current project. Add `-s user` to use it everywhere.

### Any client

Most clients accept this shape. Some name the URL field differently: `serverUrl` in Devin Desktop, `httpUrl` in Gemini CLI’s settings file.

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "optionsahoy": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://optionsahoy.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

Zed puts servers under `context_servers` in its settings. Cline needs `"type": "streamableHttp"`, or it assumes SSE.

Client only starts local servers? Bridge it with `npx -y mcp-remote https://optionsahoy.com/mcp`.
