## About

SeleniumBase MCP exposes the SeleniumBase Python framework to an AI assistant for browser automation, end-to-end testing and web scraping. It uses CDP Mode, which is designed to avoid bot-detection and can handle CAPTCHAs such as Cloudflare Turnstile.

It runs locally over stdio from the seleniumbase PyPI package, started with uvx. No API key is listed. It drives a local Chromium-based browser such as Chrome, Chrome-for-Testing, Edge or Brave.

## What it can do

- Drive a Chromium browser: navigate, click, type and select elements
- Scrape page content and element text from live sites
- Run end-to-end tests of web applications
- Use CDP Mode to reduce bot-detection on automated sessions
- Solve CAPTCHAs that are not bypassed automatically
- Save pages as PDF

## Example prompts

- "Open example.com and list the headlines on the page"
- "Log in to the demo shop and check that checkout completes"
- "Scrape the titles from this Hacker News user's submissions"
- "Search Google for SeleniumBase and save the result page as a PDF"

## Install

### Claude Code

1. Run this in a terminal, in your project folder:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport stdio seleniumbase -- uvx seleniumbase
```

2. Start Claude Code and type `/mcp`. **seleniumbase** should show as connected.

Add `--scope user` to make it available in every project.

### Claude Desktop

1. Open **Settings → Developer → Edit Config**. It opens `claude_desktop_config.json`. Add:

`claude_desktop_config.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "seleniumbase": {
      "command": "uvx",
      "args": [
        "seleniumbase"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

2. Save the file and restart Claude Desktop.

Needs uv (Python) on your computer. The file lives in `~/Library/Application Support/Claude/` on macOS and `%APPDATA%\Claude\` on Windows.

### Cursor

[Add to Cursor](<https://cursor.com/install-mcp?name=seleniumbase&config=eyJjb21tYW5kIjoidXZ4IiwiYXJncyI6WyJzZWxlbml1bWJhc2UiXX0%3D>) (opens Cursor)

Or add it by hand to `~/.cursor/mcp.json` (all projects) or `.cursor/mcp.json` (this project):

`mcp.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "seleniumbase": {
      "command": "uvx",
      "args": [
        "seleniumbase"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

Needs uv (Python) on your computer.

### VS Code

[Install in VS Code](<https://vscode.dev/redirect/mcp/install?name=seleniumbase&config=%7B%22type%22%3A%22stdio%22%2C%22command%22%3A%22uvx%22%2C%22args%22%3A%5B%22seleniumbase%22%5D%7D>) (opens VS Code)

Or from a terminal:

```bash
code --add-mcp '{"name":"seleniumbase","type":"stdio","command":"uvx","args":["seleniumbase"]}'
```

Or commit it to the repo in `.vscode/mcp.json`:

`.vscode/mcp.json`:

```json
{
  "servers": {
    "seleniumbase": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "uvx",
      "args": [
        "seleniumbase"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

Needs uv (Python) on your computer.

### Devin Desktop

1. Add it to `~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json` (macOS and Linux) or `%APPDATA%\devin\mcp_config.json` (Windows):

`mcp_config.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "seleniumbase": {
      "command": "uvx",
      "args": [
        "seleniumbase"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

2. Refresh the MCP server list in Cascade.

Devin Desktop is the new name for Windsurf.

### Codex

```bash
codex mcp add seleniumbase -- uvx seleniumbase
```

Or edit `~/.codex/config.toml` directly:

`config.toml`:

```toml
[mcp_servers.seleniumbase]
command = "uvx"
args = ["seleniumbase"]
```

Needs uv (Python) on your computer.

### Gemini CLI

```bash
gemini mcp add seleniumbase uvx seleniumbase
```

This adds it to the current project. Add `-s user` to use it everywhere.

### Any client

Most clients that start local servers accept this shape:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "seleniumbase": {
      "command": "uvx",
      "args": [
        "seleniumbase"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

Zed puts servers under `context_servers` in its settings, with the same `command`, `args` and `env` fields.

Needs uv (Python) on your computer.
