> Scaffold UI5 apps, lint code, validate manifests and fetch UI5 API docs and guidelines from your AI assistant.

- Listing: https://mcp.tc/i/ui5
- Connect: this is a local (stdio) server; install it on your machine (see Install). The listing link is a page, not an MCP endpoint.
- Type: local (stdio)
- Auth: no API key needed
- Category: [Developer Tools](https://mcp.tc/c/developer-tools)
- Vendor: UI5
- Repository: <https://github.com/UI5/mcp-server>
- Package: npm `@ui5/mcp-server`

## About

Connects an AI assistant to the UI5 framework (SAPUI5 and OpenUI5). It can scaffold new UI5 applications and UI Integration Cards, run the UI5 linter, validate manifests against the UI5 schema, read project metadata, and fetch API reference and development guidelines.

It runs locally over stdio through npx with the @ui5/mcp-server package and needs Node.js v20.17.0, v22.9.0 or higher. No API key is required. Optional environment variables control allowed domains, the CDN URL, log level and the data directory for cached API references.

## What it can do

- Scaffold new UI5 applications from templates
- Create UI Integration Cards
- Run the UI5 linter on project code
- Validate manifest files against the UI5 schema
- Fetch UI5 API reference documentation
- Get UI5 best-practice and TypeScript conversion guidelines
- Read UI5 project metadata and framework version info

## Example prompts

- "Create a new UI5 app with TypeScript in this folder."
- "Run the UI5 linter and fix the reported errors."
- "Validate my manifest.json against the UI5 schema."
- "Show the API reference for sap.m.Button."

## Install

### Claude Code

1. Run this in a terminal, in your project folder:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport stdio ui5 -- npx -y @ui5/mcp-server
```

2. Start Claude Code and type `/mcp`. **ui5** should show as connected.

Add `--scope user` to make it available in every project.

### Claude Desktop

1. Open **Settings → Developer → Edit Config**. It opens `claude_desktop_config.json`. Add:

`claude_desktop_config.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "ui5": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@ui5/mcp-server"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

2. Save the file and restart Claude Desktop.

Needs Node.js on your computer. The file lives in `~/Library/Application Support/Claude/` on macOS and `%APPDATA%\Claude\` on Windows.

### Cursor

[Add to Cursor](<https://cursor.com/install-mcp?name=ui5&config=eyJjb21tYW5kIjoibnB4IiwiYXJncyI6WyIteSIsIkB1aTUvbWNwLXNlcnZlciJdfQ%3D%3D>) (opens Cursor)

Or add it by hand to `~/.cursor/mcp.json` (all projects) or `.cursor/mcp.json` (this project):

`mcp.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "ui5": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@ui5/mcp-server"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

Needs Node.js on your computer.

### VS Code

[Install in VS Code](<https://vscode.dev/redirect/mcp/install?name=ui5&config=%7B%22type%22%3A%22stdio%22%2C%22command%22%3A%22npx%22%2C%22args%22%3A%5B%22-y%22%2C%22%40ui5%2Fmcp-server%22%5D%7D>) (opens VS Code)

Or from a terminal:

```bash
code --add-mcp '{"name":"ui5","type":"stdio","command":"npx","args":["-y","@ui5/mcp-server"]}'
```

Or commit it to the repo in `.vscode/mcp.json`:

`.vscode/mcp.json`:

```json
{
  "servers": {
    "ui5": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@ui5/mcp-server"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

Needs Node.js on your computer.

### Devin Desktop

1. Add it to `~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json` (macOS and Linux) or `%APPDATA%\devin\mcp_config.json` (Windows):

`mcp_config.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "ui5": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@ui5/mcp-server"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

2. Refresh the MCP server list in Cascade.

Devin Desktop is the new name for Windsurf.

### Codex

```bash
codex mcp add ui5 -- npx -y @ui5/mcp-server
```

Or edit `~/.codex/config.toml` directly:

`config.toml`:

```toml
[mcp_servers.ui5]
command = "npx"
args = ["-y", "@ui5/mcp-server"]
```

Needs Node.js on your computer.

### Gemini CLI

```bash
gemini mcp add ui5 npx -- -y @ui5/mcp-server
```

This adds it to the current project. Add `-s user` to use it everywhere.

### Any client

Most clients that start local servers accept this shape:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "ui5": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@ui5/mcp-server"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

Zed puts servers under `context_servers` in its settings, with the same `command`, `args` and `env` fields.

Needs Node.js on your computer.
