About

Connects an MCP client to a QuickBooks Online company through the QuickBooks Online API. It offers create, get, update, delete and search tools for 29 entity types, including customers, invoices, bills, vendors, items and journal entries, plus 11 financial reports such as Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss, and Aged Receivables.

Runs locally as a stdio Node.js process built from source (not published on npm). It needs an Intuit Developer app and OAuth credentials set as environment variables. Flags can disable the create, update or delete tools so the server can be limited to read access.

What you can do

  • Create, update, delete and search customers, vendors and employees
  • Create and manage invoices, bills, estimates and payments
  • Work with items, accounts and journal entries
  • Run reports such as Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss and Cash Flow
  • Pull aged receivables, aged payables and customer balances
  • Disable write, update or delete tools for read-only use

Tools

QuickBooks Online lists its tools only to clients with a key, so we can’t show them here.

FAQ

Can I paste mcp.tc/i/quickbooks into my MCP client?

No. QuickBooks Online runs on your own computer, started by your client, so it has no web address to connect to. The quick link is the page to share.

Does QuickBooks Online need an API key?

Yes. It reads QUICKBOOKS_CLIENT_ID, QUICKBOOKS_CLIENT_SECRET, QUICKBOOKS_ENVIRONMENT, QUICKBOOKS_REFRESH_TOKEN and QUICKBOOKS_REALM_ID from its environment, and QUICKBOOKS_CLIENT_SECRET and QUICKBOOKS_REFRESH_TOKEN are secrets. Put the values in your client’s config on your own machine, never in a shared file.

Is QuickBooks Online a remote or a local server?

Local. Your client starts it as a process on your computer.

What can QuickBooks Online do?

You can create, update, delete and search customers, vendors and employees, create and manage invoices, bills, estimates and payments and work with items, accounts and journal entries.

Which clients can use it?

Any client that starts local servers: Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, Devin Desktop, Codex, Gemini CLI, Zed and others. claude.ai and ChatGPT only connect to remote servers.

Who wrote this page?

mcp.tc’s robot read QuickBooks Online’s public metadata (its package and repository pages), and an AI model drafted the text from it. A person reviews anything the checks can’t confirm. The text can still be wrong, so if you spot a mistake, use Report this listing on this page.
