mcp.tc/i/timeAbout
Gives an assistant accurate time information. It can return the current time for any IANA timezone name and convert a given time from one timezone to another, including daylight saving status and the hour difference between zones.
It runs locally over stdio, started with uvx mcp-server-time or from the mcp/time Docker image. No sign-in or API key is needed. By default it detects the system timezone, which can be overridden with the --local-timezone argument.
What you can do
- Get the current time in a named IANA timezone
- Convert a time between two timezones
- Report daylight saving status for a result
- Show the time difference between zones
- Detect the system timezone automatically
- Override the local timezone with a startup argument
Tools
Local servers list their tools once they’re running, and this one doesn’t publish its list in advance. Your client shows them after you add it.
Example prompts
What time is it now?
What time is it in Tokyo?
When it's 4 PM in New York, what time is it in London?
Convert 9:30 AM Tokyo time to New York time

"time": {
"command": "uvx",
"args": [
"mcp-server-time"
]
}
}
}Zed puts servers under context_servers in its settings, with the same command, args and env fields.

FAQ
Can I paste mcp.tc/i/time into my MCP client?
No. Time runs on your own computer, started by your client, so it has no web address to connect to. The quick link is the page to share; the install command is uvx mcp-server-time.
Does Time need an API key?
No. It doesn’t declare any keys or environment variables. It runs with your user account’s permissions, so check what its tools can reach.
Is Time a remote or a local server?
Local. Your client starts it as a process on your computer with uvx mcp-server-time, which needs uv (Python).
What can Time do?
You can get the current time in a named IANA timezone, convert a time between two timezones and report daylight saving status for a result.
Which clients can use it?
Any client that starts local servers: Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, Devin Desktop, Codex, Gemini CLI, Zed and others. claude.ai and ChatGPT only connect to remote servers.
Who wrote this page?
mcp.tc’s robot read Time’s public metadata (its package and repository pages), and an AI model drafted the text from it. A person reviews anything the checks can’t confirm. The text can still be wrong, so if you spot a mistake, use Report this listing on this page.
