Verify your MCP server
A checkmark next to a server’s name means we confirmed who runs it. It isn’t a security review. Owners can ask for one with a DNS record.

What the checkmark means
The checkmark means the server is run by the company or project named on the listing. A listing gets it in one of two ways:
- For well-known servers, we checked by hand that the URL is on the vendor’s own domain or that the code is in the vendor’s own repository. The listing’s details then say “Official server”.
- Anyone else can prove it with DNS: whoever controls the server’s domain adds a record we give them, and we approve the request. The listing’s details then name that domain.
Right now 162 of the 536 listings have one.
What it doesn’t mean
It isn’t a security review. We don’t audit code, test tools or check how a server handles your data, and a verified server can still have bugs or change its tools tomorrow. It isn’t a ranking either. A listing without one isn’t suspect. Most owners haven’t asked yet.
Read a server’s tool list before you connect it, checkmark or not. The terms say more about connecting servers safely.
Verify your own listing
- Find your listing with the search at the top of this page and open its verification page.
- Check which domain it names: the domain of the server’s own URL, or of its homepage for a server that runs locally.
- Add the TXT record shown there, under the name
_mcp-tcor on the domain itself. One record is enough. - Press Start verification. We look the record up right away. If it’s there, your request goes to a person, who usually decides within a few days. We don’t send e-mails: the decision shows on that page.
- Keep the record. We check it again every day. If the record is gone, we review the listing and usually remove the checkmark.
For example.com the record looks like this, with your own code in place of the dots:
TXTName_mcp-tc (full name: _mcp-tc.example.com)Valuemcp-tc-verification=…There’s no account to create and nothing to pay. The record shows that you control the domain, and that’s all we need.
